Hasan Sadikin hospital (RSHS) treated a A/H1N1 flu suspect. Patient with initial RES (39) from Surabaya is treated at quarantine room Flamboyan, which is usually used for bird flu suspect patient.

RES is a co-pilot of Air Asia airlines who was just landed in Husein Sastranegara airport Bandung after flying through Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

Head of Special Infectious Disease Contol Team of RSHS, Hadi Yusuf, said that RES was admitted to  Flamboyan room, Monday (11/5)by airport health officers. “He showed influenza signs”, said Hadi.

Doctors haven’t confirmed if the patient is a pig flu suspect or not. For prevention, doctor will state the patient as pig flu suspect because currently there is no definition of pig flu suspect in World Health Organization (WHO) glossary.

“Clinically, we can’t say if it is H1N1 symptom. But for awareness we put him into isolation unit”, said Hadi.

Other member of doctor team, Primal Sudjana mentioned, RES reported that he had contact with somebody with influenza signs before. But it wasn’t clear if the contact was infected by pig flu virus or not.

When he was admitted to the hospital, RES had high fever up to 38,6℃ and heavy breathing. “Today his temperature is 38,4℃, with heavy breathing and runny nose. His blood pressure is also relatively high”, added Hadi.

Main director of RSHS, Cissi RS Prawira said that samples of RES have been sent to Health Laboratory of Ministry of Health Jakarta. “Health minister is the one who has authority to decide the test result. We’re only submitting samples”, added Cissy.
